With cross-functional teams, I lead the process from need to delivery. I respect process and legal constraints, identify and express solution design and leverage the psychology of human interactions to craft and negotiate deal architectures and commercials.
Strategic sourcing can be either projects, typically large projects, to source solutions, or increasing the strategic level of every day procurement by crafting and applying category strategies. I have done both. I think it is a better strategy to invest in category capabilities than to search for and drive short-term savings.
